Tuesday Morning Meditation
I crack open
like a shelled egg
and slide out
sparkling
unformed
to face this life
into which I am poured
my protestations
yellow butterflies, white foam
on the crest of green waves,
brown flotsom on the blue
river. I spin
into the quickening flow
despite myself and
find
I can swim
against the undertow.
Pale moonlight I
float on the sur-
face and though
I break into a thousand
glimmers I am
whole
gliding on oceans
that mirror my steps
and kiss my toes. I
rest behind the sun
cloaked in spider silk and
washed by dew. My breath is
peppermint, my hair is long,
white as rose petals.
I am full
with people who whisper
my name
into the center of circles
surrounded by women
holding hands and
dancing.
As first place winner in the Poetic Idol Competition, Tammy won
a prize package that includes a $150.00 cash prize; an e-Chapook of her

Green Shutters
Ripe mangoes, pulpy and slightly bruised,
  pinky-red in promise,
still wet, having recently been washed.
  Piled pyramids of succulence
stacked haphazard in an old, shallow tin plate
placed with the idea of " till later"
on an open window sill
  framed by green shutters.
As the second place winner in the Poetic Idol Competition, Jaime won
a prize package that includes a $50.00 cash prize; guaranteed
publication in an e-Artella issue; free enrollment in her choice of
Artella e-courses, the Artella eBook, "Behind the Veil", her
choice of any e-Artella issue, and one month FREE Artella membership.

In that moment
In that moment
The sky cried muddy drops
My stomach screamed of bitter squishy salt
As the tears came from a faraway place
I had never traveled on summer vacation
Joy was erased by
  opaque
  white
  paint
splattered
in a single brush stroke
mastered by an artist with just one arm
whose dreams were so far gone
it was not worth it
to even try to paint
In that moment
hope seemed as likely as
a winning lottery ticket
or even world peace
how sad to admit that
in that moment
I had almost
given up
on luck
  and peace
  and you
As the third place winner in the Poetic Idol Competition, Tara won
a prize package that includes a $25.00 cash prize; guaranteed
publication in an e-Artella issue; the Artella eBook, "Behind the Veil", her
choice of any e-Artella issue, and one month FREE Artella membership.

Falling Close to the Tree
Its size so small,
Though its possibility so great,
This miniature ball,
Doomed to a ravished fate.
It lay by its mighty parent,
Rolling lifes weighted dice,
For nature chooses not, its apparent,
And all must be ready to sacrifice.
The majority of the bet,
Point out to a winter meal,
For the food chain is already set,
And is not up for any appeal.
The other more slim of a chance,
Takes many a year to complete,
The small body will soon enhance,
To heights that cannot be beat.

sidewalk miracle
buzz and hustle
dodging shoppers, strollers, sidewalk vendors
the gooey sweet smell of cooked cashews
holiday sales, liquidation sales, warehouse sales
anything for a bargain--anything
sniff and stretch
striding amongst languorous tourists
past street vendors, street walkers, street cleaners
and the flutter of aubergine sheets drying in the sun
stepping through a saccharine breeze
heavy with salsa and urine
wanting for the sinewy, shrewd forests of Vermont
edging toward home, the gentle shade of the studio
sliding, shuffling on, getting by
sticky crowds waiting for shows, cinema,
the latest hot spot for sipping martinis at six on cell phones
ladies buying skirts, suitcases pashima scarves
a stirring crowd from the youth hostel savoring
this chaotic gem of a city
stopping
stopping
to slowly exhale
and there like a sidewalk miracle,
the serendipitous grace of a single feather

Nurturing, holding, caressing
Being unconditional Love
Being unconditional acceptance

That shines ahead
That shines within
That shines for all children to SEE
To see the Truth of WHO THEY REALLY ARE
I Love Children EVERYWHERE
Young and Old

Wonder, Curiosity, Magic
Laughter
Sweet, Joyous, Rich
Each child DESERVES the Loving Embrace
of the Illumined Mother
Each child DESERVES to be told How Special
They are
Each child DESERVES the environment that
is Safe, Secure and Nurturing

Feel my arms around you sweet child and
KNOW that YOU ARE LOVED.
