I have always found snow globes fascinating. As a child, I remember fantasizing about what it would be like to live inside one of those little dome-shaped worlds. I imagine the roots of this fantasy was my longing for snow, growing up in Texas. And yet, even then, perhaps part of me longed for the still perfection of a glitter-filled utopia. There is hardly a better metaphor for timelessness than snow globes and the sparkly little wonderlands they encase.
Shortly before Christmas, my family had our first experience with professional portraits. We were delighted when the photogapher captured little Kai dancing with complete glee. The snow globe layout above seemed perfect; both Tony and I commented that it captured the singular image that we wanted to remember for 2010. It hasn't been an easy year for Kai -- he had three surgeries in three months this Fall -- but when we think of 2010, we will always remember him dancing....
At this new year's transition, it's an interesting inquiry to explore our "snow globe moments" for 2010. So I invite you to explore...What moment would you like to capture from the past year...what memory would you most like to encase in glitterly timelessness?
And, if we dare to be bold, we can even look toward the coming year and envision a "snowglobe moment" that we would like to create for the year ahead. In other words, what goal or dream is on your mind and heart for this year...and how might you envision it as a "snowglobe moment" that you want to make come true? You might even want to play with some of the ideas in the Creativity Tip, below, to explore your "snow globe moments" for both 2010 and 2011. If one of your possible snowglobe moments for 2011 is to enjoy a new heart-felt approach to succeeding in your creative business or venture, I invite you to join me in the free class I'm presenting this Thursday, called "MARK IT!: Creative Ways to 'Make Your Mark'in 2011 with your Creative Business". You can keep reading to get all the details and sign up, below.
For those short on time, to simplify this week's Artellagram, here are some ”quick links” to the highlights in this edition. You can simply follow the links that you're interested in and go directly to that section.

For today's "In the Studio" Interview, I'm delighted to present an interview with Certified ARTbundance™ Coach Dawn Richerson. Dawn is all about living and being in the moment, so I knew she would be a great Coach to highlight this week!
Artella: What led you to become a Certified ARTbundance™ Coach? Dawn: I believe the deepest, most sacred streams of my soul had been calling to me for some time. When I read the description of the new ARTbundance™ certification program, I literally felt an inner shift, and I took notice of that. Even though my head was snickering that I “wasn't an artist”, this “wasn't practical”, I “didn't need another program”, my spirit just kept expanding. And this reverberating assurance from some mysterious place inside me got my attention, and I said YES! Artella: How is prosperity related to creativity and spirituality? Dawn: Without a consistent connection to these integral parts of who I am, my full potential for thriving – for living a prosperous, wealthy life in the fullest sense of that idea – is diminished. In fact, I believe none of us can be truly prosperous without honoring our own creative spirit and the source of that creativity. When we step into the fullness of who we are, we naturally attract those things that further our expansion in every dimension. Prosperity comes in many forms, and it always follows and flows to those who release the need to control and the rigidity of being attached to a certain outcome. It is when we are BEING who we are, living authentically and embracing the call of our soul that we open up a channel for well-being in its varied forms. Creative and spiritual practices enhance our ability to do that. You can read the rest of Dawn's interview, here
We have now closed the application process for the Fall 2010 ARTbundance™ Certification Program. If you are interested in receiving notification when the next ACT session is scheduled, simply fill out the form on this page.

Here are a few ways to capture your "snowglobe moments":
- Click the above image to download a printable snow globe, and then draw your "moment" inside it.
- Purchase a snowglobe kit (available at craft and hobby stores) and insert a meaningful photograph, image, or even an ATC or small collage.
- Make your own snow globe by placing meaningful (and waterproof) objects, such as small toys or decorations, in a jar. You can glue the objects to the bottom of the jar, or just let them float around. Add water and glitter. You can add a few drops of glycerin (available at drug stores) to make the glitter move through the water more slowly and gracefully.
- Draw, paint, or collage your "moment" and then place the art in a plastic notebook sleeve. Insert glitter or other sparkly bits into the sleeve and then carefully tape it shut. This is a fun way to save your art...simply shake the sleeve to get a bit of magic!
