ARTELLAGRAM 1-15-2011:
"In the Studio"
An Interview with Janet Shepherd

(This interview is continued from the January 15, 2011 Artellagram... )

Artella: In your mind, how are creativity and spirituality related?

Janet: I think creativity and spirituality bubble up from the same wellspring. For me, spirituality is experienced through Nature -- the sun's rays, the life-giving waters, the strength and endurance of trees, the nourishment that grows from the earth -- that's where I find Spirit. Creativity is the same way. It flows through me, when I allow it. It is that small still voice of connection within, connection to a vast nourishing unlimited Source.

Artella: How is prosperity related to creativity and spirituality?

Janet: When we are able to be most ourselves, most creative, and most connected with our own source, that's when prosperity happens. We become rich, in the same way that we think of soil as rich -- deep, complex, potent, full of nutrients. We draw to us those experiences and people we most value. Prosperity appears in a variety of forms: sometimes as money, and often as resources and opportunities. When I listen within to that wellspring of creativity & spirit, my choices always pay off in some way..

Artella: What kinds of people do you most enjoy working with? Who is your ideal client?

Janet: My ideal client loves to learn, is willing to look within, and is honest with herself (or himself). I love working with people who sense that there is a happier, more effective, more creative, and more joyful life to be lived. My passion is helping them find the paths to their own joy and wisdom, accompanying them on their journey, and admiring the amazing treasures they find. This leads to designing their own joyful lives, hence the reason I named my business "Joyful Life Design."

Artella: ARTbundance™ Coaching is based on nine ARTbundance™ Principles. Do you have a favorite Principle, or one that you really enjoy activating in other people? Which one, and why?

Janet: Wow, it's hard to choose! I love ALL the Principles! One of my favorites, though, is the Principle of Connection. It surprises me how much we humans try to do everything in a Lone Ranger fashion. While it's a wonderful thing to take time for and by ourselves, I believe that connection with others provides a supportive foundation that is immensely important. Connection creates depth; it fills up the empty places and brings color and spice into our lives. We learn so much from other people, and when we share resources with one another, we are so much wealthier in so many ways. And that brings us back to Prosperity!

Artella: What does your future hold? What projects are you working on now?

Janet: Right now I'm designing my birthday party in January, which will be a clothing & jewelry swap with 20 wonderful women friends. I'm collecting broken and discarded vintage jewelry and learning some wire-wrapping skills to create new pieces from old. My primary artform has been mixed media, and I just participated in my first ever art sale! Locally, I'm planning an ongoing group of women who meet to explore various concepts and complete ARTsignments in between meetings. Also, I've started officiating at delightful nontraditional weddings. One more thing; I'm expanding & updating my website (http://www.joyfullifedesign.com) to offer fun creative products and coaching and to reflect ALL of me!
