Share a message for your Sprite: Lora is an incredible artist. The pieces she sent me are just amazing. She worked with fabric on two of the pieces. The first was a postcard with a sea motif. I fell in love the moment I saw it. The second piece was an altered jewelry box with a fabric ATC in it. Again, amazing. The final was fabric box with beautiful beading. Inside was a little notebook with a gel pen and a mini sunflower garden. I have a sprout already. I am awed by this woman's creativity and feel so blessed that she was my Sprite. Thank you Lora Martin!!

Dear Secret Sprites of Spring:

The "Sprites of Spring" exchange is officially over, although rumor has it that a few Angels (and Sprites, for that matter) are still getting things finished and mailed.

To those of you who never, ever, heard from your Sprites: I am sorry. I had intended to be able to contact recalcitrant Sprites and find out from them if there was a fixable problem, but the computer crash took care of that good intention. I will do better next time. Please don't feel unloved.

To my Angels: Thank you, thank you, and thank you again. Your generosity and willingness was very moving. I appreciate you more than I can say.

To all of you who e-mailed me with problems: Thanks for your patience. I hope we got at least a few of the fires put out.

To all of you: Thanks for the kind words and kind thoughts, for the gestures of support, and for your general good spirits. I have enjoyed working with each and every one of you, and look forward to our next art exchange.

Filled with little goodies! With a label on it - and it went through the US mail like that. What a hoot! Love it! Haven't learned your name yet, but you're in Colorado -- and if you read this, please know that your creations brought much joy!

I just completed another little something to send, and when I went to get the name/address - poof! Gone! Can't find it! And, being the possessor or a very poor memory, I can only recall that she is in Texas. So, if you have received a zipper pull and a silver "stringy" object along with a challenge to think up something to do with the second object (other than use it as a bookmark), then - you're the woman I'm looking for! What did participating in Artella's First Annual Secret Sprites of Spring mean to you? I have so enjoyed this exercise in planning and thinking of another and of giving of myself. I enjoy sharing my work with others but to do so with no recognition is special. I hope my receivee sprite has also enjoyed what I have sent and will enjoy the package that is going out today.

Share a message for your Sprite: My Secret Sprite from Sherman Oaks, CA has really outdone herself. First the beautiful pink crystal earrings and now a beautiful handmade card and a bookmark. Since I attempt to craft both I will truly cherish both for the workmanship in each.

We were in Wisconsin with our daughter helping her in her recovery from major surgery when the items arrived so I did not see them until we returned home. Since them I have been ill with gall bladder attacks. Do hope the doctors at the VA in Omaha decide to remove it SOON! That's my excuse for not posting my thanks sooner and I'm sticking to it.

Dear Sprites and Recipients:

Thank you all for your patience while my computer melted down. We have eleven official days left in the "Secret Sprites of Spring". If you have been keeping up with your Recipient, and have been hearing from your Sprite, all is well with you. If you still have not heard from your Sprite at all, e-mail me ASAP...I have had some heroci responses form volunteer Angels, and it is not too late to try to do something.

To my dear Angels, I offer humble thanks. Stay in touch; I may need to summon a few more of you. Keep the faith.

To everyone, I assure you that I have learned some valuable lessons from this, and the next exchange will go more smoothly. It has been fun. Don't hesitate to e-mail me with suggestions or comments for the next one.

I hate it when my Mom is right. She tried to tell me I was inadequately backed up, but I would not listen. I knew, I knew that my trusty computer would not let me down, so I did not bother to back up the Secret Sprites of Spring files.Of course, when my system crashed, I lost everything. I no longer have the original files with the Secret Sprites of Spring Assignments. I also no longer have the letters some of you have written me, saying that you have lost your Recipient or have not heard from your Sprite. With 27 days left on the Secret Sprites of Spring, this is what I would like you to do:

If you have not heard from your Sprite yet, write me an e-mail telling me so. I will get an Angel on it right away (you want power? I've got a team of Angels I can call on to solve problems.). Please note the new address: fdhartella@cox,net.

If you have misplaced the address of your Recipient, I cannot help you. I'm sorry. Just sit it out..your recipient will get in touch with me, and I will assign them to an Angel. If you are willing, send me an e-mail stating that you would like to be an Angel, if I do not have enough, and I will get back to you if I need you. Again, many thanks.

If you stated on the sign-up that you were willing to be an Angel, sit tight-I may be getting in touch with you very soon, as we try to bring this to a successful conclusion.

I've been having fun working on it, turning it into an inspirational booklet to pass along to my sister-in-law when I finish it - if I can stand to part with it, that is! Share a message for your Recipient: I know life gets busy, and I too am sometimes thoughtless, but I would like to second what was written below about at least letting your sprite know that their gifts arrived and efforts were appreciated. It just takes a minute or with even a small amount of effort, you get a new friend in the process as a bonus. I've sent a half dozen things out, yet I don't even know if they have arrived. It's not that the purpose of the project is to receive gushing praise, but simple acknowledgement would be appreciated. This sad little sprite feels like she's bombed instead of being "the bomb." Conversely, I've had a great experience in being sprited and I appreciate my sprite tremendously. I thank her from the bottom of my heart and I believe she knows it.

At the end of March, I received a cigar box full of goodies and had a blast digging and playing in all the fun, feathers, fibers and faces. Thank you, secret friend whose husband smokes an occasional cigar, saving the boxes and labels for you to share. Thank you, Sprite, who collects bird feathers, makes little faces from clay and gave up a scrumptious sun face. I collect sunshines because I love the warm and comfort of the southern sun. This sun is lazy warm and self-satisfied as can be. I just love his positively indolent smile! A big southern, springtime hug to the best Sprite of all!

I hope you enjoyed the short-short stories, poem and recipe that came your way as your second secret sprite offering. I'm busily planning your May Day basket. When I was a child, in lower elementary school, so very long ago, we made a holiday of May Day complete with a May Pole, cookies, flowers and pretty posters for our classroom windows. We also had a May King and Queen. I miss that.

Children no longer get to do things like that. We had no idea what it was about aside from the fun stuff. Now I know it was a "heathen" fertility rite, but then heathen is a relative term. Ah well. I'm an old fogey.

There is no way you could have known how the contents fit so perfectly into my life...I was searching for small candles to fit minitature antique candlesticks on my altar (perfect fit!), the significance of butterflies (I'll tell you later) and I am wearing the earrings right now! But most amazing, is the goddess figure on top of the box - the symbol of all my soul searching work last year! Wow, I am in awe over the powers of this universe in which we live. Thank you from my heart, and your beautiful, heartfelt creation is a special new addition to my altar, which will be my daily reminder of the interconnectedness and power of us all.
