"Butterfly Woman" began an odyssey into art for Frances Norton Honich, as this lovely image was created in 1996 when Frances underwent treatment for breast cancer without the benefit of health insurance. Her daughter Ellen wanted to help with the expenses and designed the image and Frances wrote the words for the t-shirts and tote bags. Ellen encouraged Frances to use some of her poems, along with photographs taken by Ellen and Frances's other daughter, Grace, to make into note cards with an uplifting and healing theme. Frances is in fine health now, has a full-time job as a 17th century historical interpreter and spends much of her spare time writing poetry, presenting workshops centering around healing and creating various expressions of note, such as "The Lady Collection" collages, and what she calls "The Paper Dolls of My 65th Year."
